Port Tanger Med 2

Service berth for tugs and pilot boats

The Tanger Med 2 Port Authority required a cost-effective, flexible, and scalable solution for mooring tugs and service vessels in a deep-water port with depths exceeding 18 meters and ongoing expansion.
MSI supplied heavy-duty floating pontoons designed specifically for tugboats, measuring 10 meters in width and 2.7 meters in depth, engineered to accommodate vessels with displacements of up to 500 tonnes. The anchoring system utilized Seaflex elastic anchors, enabling efficient installation in deep water without the need for high-capacity cranes.
Despite exposure to severe easterly storms (“levante”) with waves reaching 1.5 to 2 meters, the solution has demonstrated high resilience, delivering a robust, reliable, and fully operational infrastructure tailored to the port's requirements.
