MSI at Tomorrow.Blue Economy 2026: We're presenting BasisBoje in the pitch area

From November 3 to 5, MSI – Marina System Ibérica will have its own booth at the Tomorrow.Blue Economy World Congress, the international blue economy congress organized by Fira de Barcelona in conjunction with the Smart City Expo World Congress, at the Gran Via venue.

It is a key event for those of us who work at sea: government agencies, ports, technology companies, and investors come together to discuss how to make marine activities and infrastructure more sustainable.

BasisBoje Pitch: Wednesday, November 4, at 10:35 a.m.

Our CEO, Francisco Sarrias, will present our new project in the conference’s pitch area: BasisBoje, an eco-designed navigation buoy that transforms a passive element on our beaches into living marine infrastructure.

One buoy, three accessories

The buoys that mark the boundaries of swimming areas are located about 200 meters from the shore; they offer no foothold for swimmers approaching them, and their concrete bases and chains damage the seabed. BasisBoje maintains the standard buoy and adds three modular accessories to it:

  • Buoy · Rest and Safety. A stainless steel ring that can support up to 4 swimmers at a time.
  • Chain · A vertical reef. Cages made from recycled oyster shells that serve as a nursery for seaweed, mollusks, and fish, located near the surface so they can be observed while snorkeling.
  • Anchor · Regeneration. Concrete enriched withCaCO3, featuring shelter cavities and an intermediate buoy that prevents the chain from scraping the seabed.

According to the preliminary life-cycle analysis, the complete mooring system has a carbon footprint that is 24.5% lower than that of a traditional system.

We are looking for city councils and ports to participate in a pilot program at sea

BasisBoje is currently in the design phase, with the concept validated through buoyancy, stability, and drag calculations. The next step is to build a prototype and test it at sea with interested municipalities and ports.

If you're attending Tomorrow.Blue Economy, stop by our booth or join us for the pitch on Wednesday, November 4. If you can't make it, please contact us or email us at [email protected]. For more information, visit www.basisboje.com.
